Friday, July 10th, Bonkers! presents...

WISP
(Live PA- Rephlex, Sublight, Moodgadget)
Wisp (Reid Dunn) comes from Niagara Falls, New York. He makes electronic music that spans many genres, from jungle and experimental drum n bass to ambient and downtempo electronica. Nostalgic computer games bear an influence on his music. He began releasing music for free, in the form of mp3s on netlabels, but has since been signed to Sublight Records, and more recently (2008) he signed with Rephlex Records. His free mp3 releases are, however, still available on The Wisp Archive.

Wisp has fans in high places, not least of whom include Aphex Twin (who has DJed Wisp's tracks and whose label, Rephlex, Wisp recently signed to), Venetian Snares (who has enlisted Wisp to tour with him later this year and has released records by the man), and The Flashbulb (who has also released Wisp's music!).
In May of 2009 Wisp released The Shimmering Hour and has gotten quite a bit fawning press for it already. With an extensive US tour planned for later this year, Bonkers! is thrilled to present Wisp to Seattle in advance of the glittering fandom that is sure to occur to this unique and enthralling artist.

THE NATUREBOT vs MC ANTON BOMB
(hardware live PA- Pleasure Boat Records, Bonkers!)
Continuously building melodies, beats, recording found sound and creating new music, The Naturebot "micro-manages his hyper, busy tracks, but instead of producing sterile, dry studies in laptoptronica, he churns out cuts that dazzle from a technical standpoint while not skimping on the unhinged fun factor" (The Stranger, Jan 22nd).
Influences cited include the landscape of the American Southwest as well as the music of Cluster/Harmonia, Aphex Twin, Steve Reich, Drexciya, Andrew WK, and the Bliss Out series on Darla Records. In 2009 Ian started up Pleasure Boat Records (pleasureboatrecords.com) and released his album The Schnebly.
Bringing forth a barrage of vintage, unique and homemade synths as well as Seattle's notorious MC Anton Bomb, The Naturebot is taking his already powerful brew and dropping in a shot of everclear.

RELCAD
(live- Peloton, Musique)
Relcad is a world-class and heavily-trained musician that conjures up wild soundscapes and stunning atmospheres over heavy, heady, and just slightly off-kilter beats. A master of dark, heady, and overpowering music, Relcad does to momentum what a super bowl ring does to a man's ego. He recently released a track on Peloton Musique alongside Jeff Samuel, Lusine, and other respected artists. Live PAs in the past have seen Relcad building unrelenting energy and building a heavy bedrock of unclassifiable sounds and heavy bass. A Seattle artist who plays out infrequently, Relcad is one of the most remarkable and most hidden gems in a city full of them.

DOPELABS
(Dubstep.fm, Dubstep Records)
An immense talent, DopeLabs is Alex, the founder of Dubstep.fm (the internet's most listened to Dubstep station) and Dubstep Records. DopeLabs has deep knowledge of the genre, deep record bins and even deeper sounds. Here is a vinyl DJ that has access to tracks from the global dubstep underground and can weave them to play off each other, shifting from movement to movement without ever losing any momentum.

Plus, the live visual wizardry of LOOPTID

Gonna be heavy, gonna be out there. Come get some.
