BONKERS! presents the one, the only, the legendary, the Drexciyan...

DJ STINGRAY 313

(Rephlex, Planet E, Mo Wax)

Throughout a recording career spanning almost two decades, DJ Stingray aka Sherard Ingram aka Urban Tribe has consistently avoided the mainstream to create a musical world of his own. Responsible for the early techno classic "Covert Action" on Retroactive (reissued on Planet E), Ingram collaborated Carl Craig, Anthony Shakir and Kenny Dixon jr. (Moodymann) for Urban Tribe's debut album "The Collapse of Modern Culture" on Mo Wax. Touring as Drexciya's official assault DJ, Stingray collaborated with James Stinson (of Drexciya) for the "Other People Place ft. Mystic Tribe a.i." project on Clone in 2002. His two recent albums ("Authorized Clinical Trials" and "Acceptable Side Effects") and singles for Rephlex have remained true to their Drexciyan descent - not through imitation but through remorseless innovation in electro aesthetics.

In his dj sets DJ Stingray combines fast paced UK and European electro with the classic Drexciyan Detroit sound to a highly energetic, original and soulful mix. He is continuously working the records, cutting and fazing like only a select few DJs can and do. A legend...

"There is a small group of electronic music tracks that transcend genre and time, compositions that never grow old or lose their resonance... With Social Engineering , Sherard Ingram (DJ Stingray) has joined this small elite. " - Resident Advisor review of Urban Tribe (aka DJ Stingray)

"Bio Electronics is a clear example of why Urban Tribe is so respected amongst Motor City music enthusiasts... Ingram has shown his skill and prowess in the realm of minimal electro, creating warm (and new) tracks that any listener would put back onto the technics again and again." - Igloo Magazine review of Urban Tribe (aka DJ Stingray)
